Hello and thank you for coming by my blog today! Today’s project is from Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge. I am going to share one of the Swing Cards on page 52 of the Artiste manual. I cut it at 5.5 inches.
The accent piece is on page 48 using the Card feature with the Shift key on. Super card with a lot of pop and so very quick to make.
My paper choices came from my stack of scraps left over from the Artiste Mini Album that I made recently. You can see that HERE. Here is a look at my scrap pile on just of a little corner of my Scrapin Island that is a huge mess.
You can see that I am taking She’s A Sassy Lady advice and cutting two of these Swing cards at the same time. One that you need now and one for your stash of cards when there is no time to stop and make one.
I cut my accent piece at 2.25 inches but you could cut it at 2.5 to fill in the entire space. I prefer a layered look. I cut one at 2.5 and will show use it on the inside of one of my cards so you can see the difference.
Inside the first opening I have layered the 2.5 in square with a 2.25 square of coordinating card stock. The Chantilly card stock pieces are cut at 1 7/8 in by 1 1/4 inch. all of them are inked and you can pop up the colored card stock or keep it flat. I love layers and dimension myself. One does have to consider mailing this card, so keep that in mind too. 😉
I added one more piece that is 5/8 in by 2.5 and ran it through my PC Cuttlebug (one of my Fav tools) with a Stampin Up Textured Impressions Adorning Accents folder that has these tiny adorable hearts on it.
These dimensions will work for the front of your card too. Lets get to the inside! You need a printed piece of paper that can be double sided or plain on the opposite side so that that you have room to write a good size note. Mine is from Prima Collections Madeline stack and is cut at 4X5.25 in. Score it at 2 inches. Ink it up and fold in half print side up with fold on the right under your first fold.
One more piece for the inside needs to be cut at 2×5.25. I ran it through my Cuttlebug using a Honeycomb embossing folder by Cuttblebug.
Now for a few embellishments and a sentiment. I have two Stampin Up punches that make the most adorable embellishments for cards, scrapbook pages, and mini albums. I am going to use both of them today. They are the Two Way Bird Punch and the older butterfly.
It’s so easy to use up some great scraps using punches. I love my Cricut and all my cartridges, however I still use my go to punches. For the sentiment I used the Harvest Happiness stamp set and the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge from Close To My Heart. The scalloped oval was cut at 1.25 inches using scraps on my Scrapin Island and then stamped using Melon Mambo ink.
Remember I cut this Swing Card twice at the same time, so I was able to make two fun and cheerful cards from the same cutting with my Gypsy and Expression. Here’s the 2nd card!
