More Scrapbook Expo Duluth GA 2017 Card Swap #2

Today I want to share a few more of my cards that were swapped at Scrapbook Expo Duluth, GA Saturday Card Swap. My next post will have a few of the cards that were being swapped and then the winner card and my personal favorite who was 2nd place I think.

The theme for this swap was embossed. I started with Cuttlebugs 5×7 Happy Birthday embossing folder borrowed from my friend, Edna.

It’s worth purchasing and I plan to do so, because it’s a perfect first layer to any birthday card. It easily makes two backgrounds for an A2 card (4.25″X5.5″). It also has great potential for Scrapbook pages no matter what style of scrap booking you do.

On to my cards! I used ribbon, twine, stamps, die cuts, inks, markers and card stocks from my stash of supplies. I was determined that I was not purchasing anything new to create cards for this swap. Each card is different as I am easily bored making more than 5 of anything.

What I appreciate about these “crazy” stamps is that you can make them for people of all ages, stages of life! They are easily dressed up or down. They are very relatable, as they are illustrated with a wide variety of emotions. They are sure to bring a smile and laughter to who ever they are sent to. The accessories stamp set is gravy and worth every penny you spend on it. It adds more smiles, laughter, and stretches all three stamp sets to almost every holiday, situation, and personalities you and I want to celebrate!

Enjoy and be crafty and send a card to someone this week that you have made.

I am off to put my StampinNScrappin studio back together after a forced need for new floors. It’s been a process, but we are almost done. The studio has new paint, new layout, and yes, new floors! My children have been a great help and I am forever thankful for each of them.

More videos to come in the future and more crafts, cards, and Scrapbook layouts to share soon!

Scrapbook Expo is really fun. They have great vendors and the staff is really great. I encourage you to attend one near you in you thefuturea d participate in a class or two and do the swap.

12 Tags 2014 – Equals Two Masculine Cards!

Hello Fellow Crafters,

Last night I saw the link to Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 on Facebook and decided to see what I could create using his technique for March.

My grandson was in my Stampin Studio playing with my second sons Lego’s so I had some time to stamp! I can always use some masculine cards, so I went with one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, Classic Pickups and the tree line is from another favorite, Noble Deer. I used a favorite paper pack from Cosmo Cricket, Wanted Collection that I still have in my paper stash. I pulled two of the Distress Inks (Vintage Photo and Old Paper) and a few markers.

I cut my tags from some vanilla card stock using the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I created two tags just like Tim did, using the second generation stamp method for the 2nd one. Above is the first stamped tag that I’ve used as the focal point on my A2 sized card (4.5″X5.5″). I hand colord the tree line stamp using my markers. The enjoy the ride sentiment is from Close To My Heart, but no longer available. I added some string and two brads and one of the coordinating elements from the Wanted Collection. I also distressed the edges of my tag using a distressing tool.

Above the 2nd generation stamped tag. I added a little chalk using a blender pen to add some additional texture to the tag. I switched up my papers for the card front and inked the edges of the papers and the base of my card.

I always do a test stamp before I stamp on my project and on my work island was a piece of tissue paper. So I stamped my pick up on it. I liked the way it looked, so I fussy cut it and used it inside my card with a little vellum adhesive.Using this stamp on some tissue paper for a gift is a great idea! I do love this stamp set and being that I live in a house full of men, it’s very appropriate even years later!

Thanks Tim for the inspiration and the technique! Anytime I can get a two for one is always a good deal!

I appreciate your stopping by my blog today and hope you found something to inspire your creative spirit. Have a fantastic week!

Dressing Up Your Gifts, Packaging, and Scrapbook Layouts With Art Philosophy and Artiste Cricut Bundles

Hello Crafty Friends!

Most of us are shopping or creating gifts for our loved ones this time of year and I wanted to share a quick video from Close To My Heart that gives some great tips on how you can create some adorable treat boxes, some really fabulous gift tag embellishments, card front embellishments, and ways to dress up your scrapbook layouts using the Art Philosophy and Artiste Cricut Collections.

You can click HERE to watch the video.

Now find your favorite Christmas or Holiday paper stack or your scraps and start cutting! You can make these adorable gift embellishments or card and layout embellishments in just a few minutes!

You will spend the majority of your time choosing your papers, so my suggestion is go to your favorite stacks or scraps (I keep mine organized by stack/or pack) and pull them out and start cutting.

Once you have all your cuts, get your adhesive and embellishments out and in a small snack size zip lock bag.

While you are watching tv or listening to the radio or TED (I love TED!) you can start folding strips for your yo yo’s so that when you assemble these embellishments it will go quicker.

Go ahead and make the bows now as well. Bring your brads to your comfy chair with your cuts, ink pad and sponges for inking and you can have a lot of these ready to go in just thirty minutes of your entertainment time. These are easy embellishments to make! You can never have too many bows!

This is a great way to use up those last scraps of your favored papers for any gift giving celebration. When you have the scraps out go ahead and cut strips for the yo yo or the bow and place them in a large ziplock bag labeled with what it is and you have a go to for what you need when you need it or for when you want to make these while in your easy chair. I love cutting different sizes for different size packages, rags, or gift bags.

The coordinating stamp sets that come with your Art Philosophy and Artiste Cricut Bundles makes gift embellishment a breeze!
